July 14th
2019 - Sunday

1959 - Reno, NV.   The Lancer Restaurant opened on the Mount Rose Highway, featuring dining and dancing. In September a gaming license was approved so slot machines and blackjack games were added. The Lancer was destroyed by fire on August 1, 1971. It was not rebuilt.

1974 - Curacao.   Antillian Casino opens, closes in 1998.

1998 - Las Vegas, NV.   Wild Wild West Casino opens at 3330 West Tropicana, Las Vegas.

 
July 15th
2019 - Monday

1998 - Kansas City, MO.   Sam's Town casino closes.

1999 - Summerlin Las Vegas Nevada.   JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort and Spa is a resort in Summerlin, Nevada, near Las Vegas. The Rampart Casino is located within the hotel. The property is owned and operated by Hotspur Resorts, which franchises the JW Marriott name from Marriott International.

July 16th
2019 - Tuesday

1931 - Reno, NV.   Majestic Club opened at 116 North Center Street, former location of the Alpine Club. The Majestic closed in 1932. Later the property would house the 116 Club and the Stein.

1996 - Greenville, MS.   Cotton Club closes.

2007 - Las Vegas, NV.   The New Frontier closed its doors at midnight on July 16, 2007, and was demolished by implosion on November 13 (Clauss Construction and Controlled Demolition, Inc.). The Atrium Tower was imploded with over 1,000 pounds of explosives. The demolition and its preparation were filmed for the National Geographic Channel and a program called Blowdown: Vegas Casino. The hotel's marquee remained standing until December 10, 2008 when it was taken down at the request of Steve Wynn prior to the opening of the Encore Las Vegas across the street.The Las Vegas Plaza project was cancelled around November 2011. Wynn said that he would not bail out the project and blamed the failure of the development on Yitzhak Tshuva and Nochi Dankner's paying too much for the property.In 2014, Crown Resorts and Oaktree Capital Management announced the acquisition of the property with the intent to build a new hotel beginning in 2015.

1963 - Reno, NV.   The Holiday Lodge was licensed at 9400 West Fourth Street, which was five miles west of Reno. The property, which was known for the swimming pool and hot mineral baths, had been licensed off and on for gaming since 1931. .

1987 - Reno, NV.   Jessie Beck, Reno gaming pioneer, died at the age of 83.

1994 - Biloxi, MS.   Boomtown opens.

1941 - Las Vegas, NV.   Western Casino opens at 124 Fremont Street, downtown Las Vegas.

1981 - Atlantic City, NJ.   The Claridge Hotel is a historic hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, that opened in 1930. Beginning in 1981, Claridge's operated for many years as a casino, known first as "Del Webb's Claridge Hotel and Casino", then the "Claridge Hotel and Casino". The hotel was acquired by Bally's on December 30, 2002, as a hotel tower of Bally's Atlantic City. In February 2014, the property was acquired by TJM Properties of Clearwater, Florida, who returned the property to a stand-alone hotel without casino gambling.
