Gene started collecting chips in 1963 as he was growing up amidst the illegal gambling scene in Northern
Kentucky. In 1980, he moved to Las Vegas. Gene joined the CC>CC in 1995, and has served as the Club Election Chairman and Poker Tournament Director since its inception in 1999. He was a charter member of the then Southern Nevada Chapter, founder and Vice President of the Slabfree Club, and was made an honorary member of the Silver Strikes Club. He was installed into the CC>CC Hall Of Fame in 2005. He has written many articles on chip and poker related matters. Gene co authored a book on the H C Edwards records. He continues to research the History of pre 1960 illegal club chips. Gene was one of the developers the Preserving Gaming History web site. It has well over 15,000 manufacturers records, from the old distributors of chips. He currently over 30,000 different chips in his private collection. He has been instrumental in helping, through the Palms, to raise substantial amounts of money for the Club’s “Museum Of Gaming History” fund. Appointed to The Board Of Directors Of the MOGH in 2008. |
