Las Vegas, NV, June 17, 2014 - The Jackie Gaughan's Downtown Las Vegas Exhibit was unveiled at the El Cortez Hotel and Casino as a tribute to the late gambling pioneer. Jackie Gaughan passed away in 2013 at the age of 93. He lived at the El Cortez Hotel and could be found in the casino daily playing poker.

The exhibit includes artifacts from the nine downtown Las Vegas casinos that Jackie Gaughan owned or managed. Artifacts include casino chips and tokens, ashtrays, matchbooks, postcards, and other items. Part of the exhibit is a 30 minute continuously running video about Jackie and his casinos.

MOGH Unveils Plan For The Greg Susong Digital Media Center
Chip Guide Image Files To Be Preserved & Displayed


Las Vegas, NV, May 17, 2010 - One of Greg Susong's (Casino Chip and Gaming Tokens Collectors Club hall of fame member) major contributions to the preservation of gaming history was The "Chip Guide," an online pictorial database of thousands of chip and token images. This visual collection spans decades of chip and token releases covering a sizable portion of the country's gaming jurisdictions.

Greg's wife, Carol, has supported the maintenance of this collection since Greg's passing in 2009. Now, in a most magnanimous gesture that both preserves the image collection and honors her late husband, Carol has donated the Chip Guide image collection to The Museum of Gaming History (the MOGH).

The MOGH is taking this opportunity to unveil its plan for online presentation of historical gaming images by announcing the creation of the MOGH's Greg Susong Digital Media Center (GSDMC). Initially the GSDMC will house, and keep current with additions, the Chip Guide collection. The GSDMC will grow from there as the opportunities and materials become available. The MOGH is very grateful to Mrs. Susong for her efforts in making this online wing of the museum possible, and in the process keep both the history and her husband's memory alive.
Cartagena Painting Auctioned, Donated Back To Museum, Again

June 23, 2009, Las Vegas, NV - Noted artist Carlos Cartagena created a 2nd painting to benefit of the Museum of Gaming History (MOGH), an auction was held during the Casino Chip & Gaming Token Collectors Club's (CC&GTCC) 17th Annual Convention's opening banquet.

A consortium of 26 club members had the winning bid of $2600. The painting was then donated to the museum.

Cartagena Painting Auctioned, Donated Back To Museum

June 19, 2008, Las Vegas, NV - The painting, "The Early Days in Las Vegas", by noted artist Carlos Cartagena, was won by George Maloof of the Palms Hotel & Casino. The sale, for the benefit of the Museum of Gaming History (MOGH), was held during the Casino Chip & Gaming Token Collectors Club's (CC&GTCC) 16th Annual Convention's opening banquet.

Mr. Maloof's bid of $3,500 won the Carlos Cartagena painting and brought the Museum Fund one step closer to it's goal, the Museum of Gaming History. Mr. Maloof, however, took it one very large and very gracious step further. Upon winning the Cartagena painting Mr. Maloof donated it back to the MOGH to be placed on display in the museum. The CC&GTCC responded in kind by deciding to present Mr. Maloof with a framed, signed and nummbered print (1/1000) of the 'The Early Days in Las Vegas'.

The painting, "The Early Days in Las Vegas" (above center), created by Cartagena specifically for the Museum Fund, depicts the artist's vision of an earlier time in Las Vegas, a time representative of the history that the MOGH seeks to study and preserve.

In a statement made today the Board of Directors of the CC&GTCC, the Club's membership, and the Museum Fund Committee all expressed their thanks and gratitude to George Maloof for his generosity.

CC&GTCC club member David Spragg, one of the project's key co-ordinators, added, "My own thanks also to those who made this possible, not least Carlos (Cartagena) himself and Tracy Crump, and to the folks at Tiny Treasures for their donation of the museum quality frame for the painting."

Museum of Gaming History Unveils New Logo

June 19, 2008, Las Vegas, NV - Museum Chair Mike Skelton today unveiled the Museum of Gaming History's new logo.

The Museum's logo was unveiled today at the Casino Chip & Gaming Token Collectors Club's (CC&GTCC) 16th Annual Convention (JUNE 18-22, 2008) at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The CC&GTCC is the parent organization of the Museum of Gaming History.

The logo's design embodies the glitz and flavor of Las Vegas, NV - the future home of the Museum.

Museum Website Introduced

June 19, 2008, Las Vegas, NV - Museum Chair Mike Skelton today introduced the Museum of Gaming History's new web presence.


The Museum's new web presence was introduced today during the Casino Chip & Gaming Token Collectors Club's (CC&GTCC) 16th Annual Convention (JUNE 18-22, 2008) at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The CC&GTCC is the parent organization of the Museum of Gaming History.

The new website (www.museumofgaminghistory.org) is the intial step in deploying a strong and informative web presence for the Museum organization. Along with today's unveiling of the Museum's new logo a large step has been taken to increase the public face and awareness of the museum and it's efforts.
